The Sand Between Your Toes {To Adventure #3}

When you see so much hatred in the world, your first instinct is to put yourself between them and everything else, to cloak their vision and to replace love with hate and fear with laughter. There's a fine line between protecting them and keeping them from exploring and experiencing the everyday adventure's and it's something I battle with on a daily basis.

We recently returned from a beautiful holiday in Mousehole, a harbour village in West Cornwall, and for the first time, Jesse was able to experience the sea. He sat on the sand one golden evening, desperate to make his way to the water. It felt too easy to use his clothes or the time as a reason to avoid the wet and the sand and with his little feet edging towards the sea as I held his hands, I realised this was his adventure.

He crawled without fear to the water's edge, he splashed and laughed and I realised in that moment that I needed to relax and allow him these experiences; to embrace his excitement for the little things that to him, are the the big things, and to rejoice in them alongside him.

With his first birthday drawing near, I'm vowing to soak up these moments; the expressions that come from new experiences, the way he wobbles on his feet and bounces on his bum, the way anything he comes across inevitably ends up in his mouth and the way the photos we take will replace the memories he holds as each birthday approaches.

Apologies for the late post this week guys, and for missing last week's To Adventure; as mentioned above, we were holidaying in Cornwall so I've been swamped with all the fun stuff on our return; washing, packing suitcase's away and getting back to normality.

I just wanted to feature this beautiful post by Cathryn over at Little Paper Swans because I'm just in love with these photos, and thank you so much to everyone for joining us each week. I love running a smaller community with more meaningful posts, it's so much fun.

Link up your own everyday adventures with us; they can be anything from an exciting day out to just a normal lazy day at home that had something ordinarily magical about it. There are no rules, but it'd be lovely if you could comment on this post and if we could all share the love on a few of each other's posts to give everyone a boost; feel free to add the badge if you fancy and I'll always share your wonderful posts via Twitter if you want to mention me (@helloarchie_).
